New American Merit Award (NAMA) given to a local new American high school senior who is recognized for her scholastic excellence and leadership qualities. This past year, Saeedah Khan was awarded $1,000 to help with expenses while she attends Simmons University where she is enrolled in a three-year bachelor’s program in social work. Saeedah and her family immigrated to Concord from Pakistan.

Young Women in Public Affairs Award (YWPA) recognizes young women,
ages 16-19, for their demonstration of leadership skills and commitment to
public service and civic causes and encourage them to continue their participation in public and political life.

Zonta Memorial Scholarship for non-traditional female students returning to college. Since 2006, thanks to the generosity of Zonta members and our friends, family and co-workers, the club has been able to donate over $44,000 to women who had a financial need in order to continue their education at NHTI, Concord’s Community College! We have received many grateful expressions of thanks from these women and learned how the money helped to change their lives.

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship (JMK) is for women enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree program in business management. Last year Victoria Rice a senior business major with dual options in accounting and management at the University of NH’s Peter T. Paul College of Business & Economics won our local club’s $1,000 award along with the Zonta District 1 $2,000 award and a Zonta International $8,000 award! Victoria plans to pursue a master’s in accounting and become a CPA. She believes that private businesses can be used for change and be part of the solution to some of the world’s most important issues.
